A New Year for CTTC

Well it looks like we have almost made it through yet another year. Have you completed your new year’s goals? Be sure to visit your existing goals and analyze what you have accomplished. Since I am new to the Orlando area, my goals this year have to been to meet as many of you as I can and educate myself on how best to present informative materials and articles at our local chapter. I hope I have lived up towards your expectations.

Our November meeting included distinguished guest Bob Baker and his discussion on Standard 180 A New Approach to HVAC System Maintenance. This was the local chapter’s first meeting of the year offering professional development hours (PDH) for those requiring continued development hours. It was also a chance for those not requiring PDH to enhance your knowledge base. We had 74 people attend the presentation at the meeting and the overall results were positive.

The latest version of the Advanced Energy Design Guide (AEDG) offers guidance for small hospitals and healthcare facilities. The AEDG is the sixth in the 30 percent series designed to provide recommendations for achieving 30 percent energy savings over the minimum code requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA standard 90.1-1999. The guide focuses on small healthcare facilities up to 90,000 square feet. Some of the tips the guide includes are unoccupied air flow and temperature setback rates for spaces that are not utilized 24 hours per day such as surgery suites and installing high efficiency condensing boilers with outdoor reset schedules.  Be sure to visit www.ashare.org/freeaedg for your free download and complete guide.
