Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge

UCF ASHRAE students assist Orange County with The Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge

Over the past month, UCF ASHRAE President Nate Boyd has helped organize student involvement with Orange County’s Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge. The more than 40 UCF Student interns will be taught how to conduct building energy audits using the Energy Star system. With help from these students, companies who register with The Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge will be offered building energy auditing services at no cost. Special thanks to Tim Maslow and Christina Webb with Orange County for helping to facilitate this program with our UCF ASHRAE students.

The goal of The Kilowatt Crackdown is to cut electric consumption by 30 percent by 2012.

If the Kilowatt Crackdown Challenge program is successful, it would be equivalent to removing more than 400,000 cars from the road and save 5 million barrels of oil.
