During clean up after last year’s Shrimp Boil, Mike Dillard came up to me with a big jar of bottle caps. He started explaining how he was really stressed because he needed to know how many beers we’d sold and therefore needed an accurate count of bottle caps. He asked if I could help. So, being the eager ASHRAE nerd that I am, I emptied the entire 1 gallon jar of bottle caps out onto a table and frantically started counting. What I didn’t see were all the people standing around laughing, until I realized I was the subject of a very funny practical joke.
Shrimp Boil, to me, is my favorite ASHRAE event of the year. Between the location, food, drinks and people, I can’t wait for this annual treat.
My Husband’s Favorite ASHRAE Event – by Donia Bessa
Even if I wanted to skip the Shrimp Boil (which I DON’T), my husband wouldn’t let me! He absolutely LOVES all the shrimp and Jambalaya and the rest of the fixin’s. When we have a live band, he insists on dancing to the music. He doesn’t know a soul in the place except me, but starts asking in January when the Shrimp Boil will be this year! Since I wouldn’t miss it for anything either, I always bring him one of the flyers and make our reservations early.
