The good professor from the University of Florida surely did not disappoint. Your feedback was on the whole very positive. Some of the comments that we received – “Nice topic to highlight refrigeration. Brought insight to topic that most of us ignore but relevant” and “Very good for Central FL. Publix and Citrus industry”. We were happy to bring you a great refrigeration speaker in Dr. Sherif. His research work saves millions of kW-hrs (read dollars!) across the globe. We thank Dr. Sherif for visiting us in spite of his very hectic travel schedule.
Dr. Sherif’s lecture marked the last of our eight technical sessions for the year. We were fortunate to have a great programs year. Six (6) ASHRAE distinguished lecturers, Mayor Richard Crotty, and ASHRAE President Gordon Holness marked our star studded line-up. We held joint meetings with a host of sister organizations – BOMA, IFMA, USGBC, ASHE, ASME, ASPE, SWE and the Space Coast ASHRAE chapter. The CEO and President of BOMA International graced our October mayoral meeting. The average meeting attendance stood around 80 members and we were able to engage professional, YEA and student members alike. The YEA Tech topic, which was specially put on to mark Rich King’s presidential theme, averaged about 8 -10 YEA members.
This year we also introduced the revolving “Standing Tall” award. The award recognizes corporate commitment to the eight technical sessions put on by the chapter. In economic times like these, standing tall to support attendance at your local ASHRAE chapter truly deserves a pat on the back. EMCOR – MSI received the award for the 2009-2010 programs year.
As chair of the committee I have a lot of people to thank and I’ll keep it short. I’ll start with my co-chair, Ben Fauser. As a new volunteer Ben did a great job. I would like to thank programs, publicity, newsletter, calling, membership and YEA committees for their role in making this happen.
I’ll sign off here and pass the baton to John Miller who will be our Programs chair for 2010-2011.
It was a pleasure serving you! Au revoir!
Jason Alphonso, PE
Programs Chair 2009-2010
